DRIVE-THRU BEER STORE COMPLETION ON TARGET FOR SEPTEMBER
WOODSTOCK SENTINEL-REVIEW
Heather Rivers

Drive-thru beer is almost here.

When the drive-thru Beer Store is completed at the endof summer, picking up a case of beer will become almost as easy as ordering a double double or Big Mac.

"We're very excited about the new store. Hopefully it will be sooner than later," said Ted Moroz, president of The Beer Store. "It will be September for sure,"

Located at the corner of Dundas and Clarke streets, the roughly 600- square-metre store will only be the fourth drive-thru Beer Store in Ontario.

Able to accommodate about seven cars at the location, the drive-thru will see beer store employees carrying and loading the orders directly into customers' vehicles in a covered area on the west side of the building.

"So far the response has been great," Moroz said of the previous drive-thru pilot projects. "Seniors and parents with kids in car seats love this opportunity."

Employees, he said, will still be rigorously checking ID and making decisions on whether the customer should be served.

As part of the new facility, employees will also be attending "Beer College" where they will learn to converse with customers about the different beers and recommend food pairings.

The new store will also have a completely separate empty return area, which will be separately staffed.

Construction began in mid-March on the brownfield site, formerly the site of a Sunoco gas station, which had been vacant for five years.

The exterior of the building is now complete and the contractor is due to hand over the building on Friday to its owners.

It takes about six weeks to complete the interior of the building.

The Beer Store had wanted to move from its location on Springbank and Dundas streets due to the cramped parking lot.
