FEB 2010 DOLLARAMA OPENING IN LATE SPRING
EXETER TIMES-ADVOCATEScott Nixon The new Dollarama slated for the former Darling's grocery story at the corner of Main and Sanders streets in Exeter is scheduled to open sometime in the late spring. Lee Greenwood, a development co-ordinator with London-based Canadian Commercial Development, the company that owns the property, told the Times-Advocate last week that Dollarama is excited to be in the community. Greenwood appeared before South Huron council in November to discuss the project, but wouldn't reveal the name of the business that would be opening at the former Darling's building. While there have been rumours throughout the community for months concerning the new business, Greenwood confirmed last week it will be a Dollarama. Renovations are taking place in the building now, and Greenwood said the project includes new flooring, ceiling tiles, paint and lighting, followed by exterior work such as paving the parking lot and making the outside of the building look like a Dollarama. Dollarama, a discount retailer, is headquartered in Montreal with 600 stores across Canada. Greenwood said the company went public in the fall on the Toronto Stock Exchange and is "a retail success story, when there's a lot of foreign competition." Greenwood described the location at Main and Sanders as "the heart of the community" and said Dollarama will be a positive addition to Exeter. |
